News Update – Demonstration against Sexual Abuse

From the president and ministers, to communities and individuals, South Africans across the board have expressed shock and outrage at the alarming increase of rapes in the country. Because of this and other social injustices, the Executive Mayor of Mangaung, Clr Thabo Manyoni, last month urged churches in Bloemfontein, Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu to join government in the fight against the moral decay in society.

The Anglican Holy Cross Church in Phahameng heeded the Mayor’s appeal which urged for “Churches must reclaim their places in Society”. During the month of March following the EM’s call, the entire congregation demonstrated against Women, Children and Elderly Sexually Abuse. They are of the belief that when communities work together they can defeat the moral/cultural decay that is pervasive in our communities.
