Chapter 4 of Municipal System Act, 2000 (Act 32 of 2000), provides that a municipality must develop a culture of municipal governance that complements formal representative government with a system of participatory governance, and must for this purpose –

(a) encourage, and create conditions for, the local community to participate in the affairs of the municipality, including amongst others —
(i) the preparation, implementation and review of its integrated development plan in terms of Chapter 5.

Subsequent, to the advertisement on several media platforms in December 2021 that invited the communities to submit inputs regarding the review of the Integrated Development Plan 2022/2027, Sectoral Plans, Spatial Development Framework, Draft MTREF Budget 2022/2023 – 2024/25 and Draft Budget Related Policies. The city has developed a schedule for public participation meetings and the municipality encourages the community and all stakeholders to attend and participate in those meetings.

Furthermore, the closing dates for the submissions of inputs will now be extended to Monday, 28 February 2022.

Below is the schedule for the planned public participation meetings.
