NOTICE FOR COMMENTS ON THE DRAFT MANGAUNG METROPOLITAN SPATIAL DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK (SDF) 2020
Notice is hereby given that the draft Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality Spatial Development Framework (SDF) is available for public comment and input in line with the provisions of Section 20 of the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act (SPLUMA Act 16 of 2013), which calls for the public to submit written representations in respect of the draft Metropolitan Spatial Development Framework before approval.
The SDF document can be electronically accessed from the municipal website at www.mangaung.co.za or be requested via email from tilfred.mabuza@mangaung.co.za
A hard copy of the report is also available for review at Room 818, Bram Fischer Building,
for a period of 60 days from 26 March to 26 May 2020.

During May 2019 the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality commissioned the compilation of the Mangaung Metropolitan Spatial Development Framework in line with the requirements of Sections 12 and 21 of the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act, Act 16 of 2013.
The main objective of the project is to develop a SDF for the entire Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality area). This SDF needs to address spatial, environmental and economic issues confronting both the urban and rural areas. The Metropolitan Municipality is characterised by a dispersed spatial structure, with various towns and informal settlements spread across the entire municipal area, whilst the rural areas consist of a large number of farms, as well as agricultural holdings. The SDF will also respond to the policy and legislative parameters established by National and Provincial Government, and take cognisance of the municipal space economy in the context of the provincial and national space economies.
