The following guidelines underlie the language policy of the Municipality:
- The norms for language policy as contained in section 6(4) and 6(2) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, must be adhered to in accordance with advice provided from time to time by PANSALB.
- The limiting factors contained in section 6(3) must be applied in the selection of languages for the business of the Municipality, and also in accordance with advice provided from time to time by PANSALB.
- Service delivery to the communities within the area of jurisdiction of the Municipality must take place in the municipal language of the citizens.
- There shall not be discrimination on the basis of language preference in the management and administration of the Municipality.
